| How many times have you heard an elderly
person muse about the parting of friends and the inevitability of the hereafter (for
everyone). My first idea was to depict an old man at the graveside of
a
companion. While creating this sculpture, I thought, "Who would see more
funerals than a minister?" Thus, the final character of Another Funeral
was decided. The minister's age has
been captured primarily in the hands while the face reveals the emotion of the
moment. Carved from single piece of
butternut and mounted on black marble base. Close to 3 feet tall. |
